Lake Powell Challenge Opens Registration for 10th Annual Event

Starting with today’s opening of early registration for the Lake Powell Challenge, the organizers are already running full speed ahead on plans to make the 10th anniversary of the event (Sept. 13-16) hosted by Antelope Point Marina in Page, Ariz., even better than last year.

That won’t be easy considering the 2017 event was quite memorable between the intense microclimate storm that hit the area unexpectedly and the fact that the record-setting number of participants—82 boats registered for the poker run—raised a half-million dollars for the Mountain Valley Chapter of JDRF.

But Burl Griswold and the team at Antelope Point Marina seem up for the challenge, and they know their participants—some of the most generous performance boaters in the country—will be up for it as well.

“I promise, being that this is the 10th anniversary of the Lake Powell Challenge, that we will have some tweaks to put this year’s event over the top,” Griswold said. “There’s always the daunting task of beating last year’s (fundraising) number because that’s really what this is all about. The worst we can do is fail, and I’ll still have a smile on my face if that happens.”

Griswold said that early registration, which includes the entry fee, two Saturday evening dinner tickets and two T-shirts for $400, ends on June 30. After that the price goes up to $500. He added that additional dinners, card hands and merchandise, including shirts, hoodies and jackets, can be purchased during registration.
