Latham Marine Parts Featured on Many Showstoppers in Miami

You’ll be able to find Latham Marine at its usual I-100 booth space in the Engine Builders section of the Miami International Boat Show, which starts a week from today, but you’ll also be able to see Latham’s parts and systems on many of the show boats built by the finest manufacturers in the marine industry.

Starting with the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., company’s performance roots, Latham parts can be seen on a variety of Cigarette Racing models from center consoles to offshore V-bottoms. According to a press release, Cigarette owner Skip Braver relies on Latham’s steering systems and custom-built hinges and specialty parts for the integrity his company builds into each of its classic powerboats.

Across the aisle from Cigarette, Marine Technology Inc. (MTI) will feature 48- and 52-foot catamarans with Mercury Racing 1350 and 1650 engines that demand the strongest steering mechanisms and rudders. Company founder Randy Scism also chose Latham steering for MTI’s latest 42-foot center console that will be on display.

In the outdoor area of the convention center, Mystic Powerboats will display its new 50-foot offshore racing catamaran complete with a Latham steering and rudder package. An additional 50-foot cat with Mercury 1350 engines, built with a Latham tie bar and full hydraulic steering on its dual helm, will be on hand. Also outside, a trifecta of Skater Powerboats models boasting full Latham steering are expected to be on display.

Latham Marine hydraulic lift

One of the company’s latest additions to an inventory of more than 10,000 parts is the hydraulic lift, which can be seen at the Hatteras Yachts display on Collins Avenue and at the Formula Boats displays in the convention center and at Sea Isle Marina. The lift was designed exclusively for Formula models years ago and can still be seen on the company’s sport cruisers. Latham more recently developed custom variations to suit individual motor yachts and demand is growing due to the lift’s unique properties.

Hatteras heard about Latham lifts while creating its new 100-foot Raised Pilothouse Motor Yacht and asked company founder Bob Latham to create a powerful, reliable lift to accommodate the watercraft or tender needs of the new yacht. According to the release, Hatteras was so satisfied with the durable lift that the company recruited Latham to develop a new rudder for its GT Series Convertibles.

Also in the yacht realm, Cheoy Lee Shipyards will feature two of its new Alpha Express yachts—a 76 Flybridge and 87 Sportbridge. According to Gene Weeks, project manager for the Express line, complete Latham steering packages will be available on the Alpha line of Express Yachts, known for their performance and speeds of 35-plus knots.
