Lay-Up Beginning On First Outerlimits RIB, 29 SV Getting Clear Coat And More

In a definitive sign of the go-fast boating times, all of Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats’ most current projects involve outboard-engine power. That’s not to say the Bristol, R.I., company has abandoned its stern-drive V-bottom roots—the builder has a 52-footer in final rigging and another is being painted by Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky. But with its new 39-foot center console, 36-foot Rigid Inflatable Boat, 37-foot sport catamaran and SV 29 OB, the company clearly has embraced the outboard power movement.

“We still need to clear coat the deck on the 29,” said Dan Kleitz, the company’s sales manager. “The center console deck plug is almost done, so as soon as it is finished will be build a mold from that. In the meantime, we’re laying out the stringers for the center console hull. The hull mold for our 37-foot cat is here now and we’ll start laying up hull No. 1 in about two weeks. And we’ve started laying up our first RIB.”

“We have a lot of interest in our four outboard-powered models,” he added. “People have been telling us they can’t wait to see the finished products.”

Outerlimits is laying out the stringer system for its new outboard-powered center console.

In addition to new-model development and existing-model builds, according to Kleitz, the company has been busy with service and upgrade projects. That work, he added, has not been limited to customers who own Outerlimits models.

“We welcome all customers, regardless of brand,” he said. “With our general maintenance, upgrade, renovation, fiberglass repair service, we are a one-stop shop for powerboat owners on the Eastern Seaboard.”
