Looking For A Fountain 47 Lightning? Try Big Thunder Marine

Saying that Big Thunder Marine in Central Missouri has the market cornered on used Fountain Powerboats 47 Lightning models might not be entirely true, but good luck finding a dealership that has such a variety of 47-footers available. If at ever you were considering picking up one of the sizable sportboats built by the legendary Washington, N.C.-based company, now might be a good time since the Lake of the Ozarks dealership has pretty much any 47 you could think of owning.

A former Mecury Racing test bed, this Fountain Powerboats 47 Lightning is for sale at Big Thunder Marine in Lake Ozark, Mo.

Starting with a former Mercury Racing test platform, there is a 2008 47 Lightning that is for sale without power but ready to be equipped with a pair of Mercury’s QC4v engines ranging from 1,110 to 1,650 horsepower. The boat, which features a beautiful paint job, originally was powered by a pair of Mercury Racing 700SCi engines and owned by retired NFL running back Jamal Lewis before it was purchased in 2015 and then sold to Mercury Racing as a test bed for a pair of its dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines.

Big Thunder also has a clean 2006 47-footer with a custom paintjob from The Art Of Design and staggered Mercury Racing 1075SCi engines available along with another 2006 model powered by triple Mercury Racing 525EFI engines. Both boats are clean and available on a MYCO Trailer.

That’s not all though. There’s another 47 Lightning—a 2002 model—with triple Mercury 500EFI engines, plus a 1999 with triple 500-hp engines and a 1997 with triple MerCruiser 600SC engines.

Prices and more information on each boat (see the slideshow below) are available a bigthundermarine.com.

Of course Big Thunder Marine’s Ed Champion is happy to answer any questions regarding these boats or the possibility of getting a new 42 Lightning or 47 Lightning with all of the improvements Iconic Marine Group—the parent company of Fountain, Donzi Marine and Baja Marine—has made at the factory.

Champion added that there is a brand new 47 Lightning coming soon for a customer in New York that is going to be painted by Visual Imagination—but that one is going to be featured in a different story in the near future.
