Mercury Racing Plans Full-Court Press Out West

I recently checked in with the especially helpful and courteous Rick Mackie, Mercury Racing’s senior marketing manager, to see what his plans were for the Desert Storm Poker Run in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., which is coming up later this month.

Mackie informed me that the crew is planning a “full-court press out West,” starting with the Lake Havasu Boat Show (April 20-22).

“We’re looking forward to Desert Storm,” Mackie said. “We’re going to have a large crew in Havasu this year. Our Mercury Racing truck and several of our sales reps will be at the boat show. We’ll be participating in the open house on Wednesday (April 25) at Oregon Custom Marine, and American Performance Television’s John Potts will be traveling with us to Desert Storm to shoot the street party and the poker run.”

Along with filming the poker run festivities in high definition, Mackie said Potts will be visiting the company’s headquarters in Fond du Lac, Wis., to shoot HD video of the plant that will be featured in Mercury Racing’s various social media channels throughout 2012. The “virtual tour” segments will highlight everything from the new 565 engine and the turbocharged QC4v 1100/1350 engines to the company’s drives, propellers, outboards and accessories assembly.
