Miami Boat Show Day 2 Highlights: Awesome Morning Action

By the time we left the Miami International Boat Show yesterday afternoon, we’d seen everything we wanted to see—and a few things we wished we hadn’t. (For viewing truly tragic tattoos on sunburned flesh, the Miami show is tough to be beat.) So today’s plan was to lead off with a morning photo shoot of some of the most compelling go-fast catamarans, V-bottom sportboats and center consoles in the show running on Biscayne Bay and then devote the rest of day to interviews and just catching up with marine industry folks we didn’t see yesterday.

The new Outerlimits SC 46 catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing dual-calibration 1350/1100 engines was one of eight boats photographed by speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden of Shoot 2 Thrill Pix this morning.

Although you’ll have to wait for upcoming stories to publish to read the good stuff—and we got some great stuff—from the interviews, the photos from today are ready for your viewing pleasure. And we’re delighted to report that speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden, flying with ace helicopter pilot and longtime speedonthewater.com friend Paul Barth of Camera Copters in a Hughes 500, flat out nailed it.

Of course, it helps to have great subjects. Boden did. Within an hour he had captured running shots of the Cigarette Racing Team 41 AMG Carbon Edition, a pair of MTI 340X catamarans (one with Mercury Racing 300R outboards, another with Mercury Racing 400R outboards), a new MTI-V 42 center console, the latest Mystic Powerboats M4200 center console, a Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 450 center console, the Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats 46 SC catamaran dubbed JET and the Wright Performance 420 driven by Myrick Coil of Performance Boat Center.

You’ll get to enjoy all these boats in the upcoming January/February 2019 Speed On The Water digital magazine, as well as in our 2019 Year In Review print edition. But in the meantime, we thought you’d appreciate these images.
