Midnight Express Offering New 60′ Super Sport Yacht, Center Console

Midnight Express is planning to introduce a new 60-foot model in sport yacht and center console configurations.

Coming off a strong Miami International Boat Show in which Midnight Express Powerboats owner Eric Glaser said the Hollywood, Fla., custom center console builder closed more than one deal for the first time at the show in several years, Glaser told speedonthewater.com this week that the company is ready to move forward on its biggest undertaking to date.

And no, he’s not talking about a larger version of the well-received Midnight Express 43 Open that debuted in 2013. Think bigger—as in 60 feet. Thanks to the purchase of the former Mystic Powerboats’ 60- and 70-foot V-bottom molds, Glaser said the company is going to start building its first 60 Super Sport Yacht in house over the next couple of months.

“We’re ready to start on the 60 SSY, we’re just waiting on someone to drop the money,” Glaser said. “I’ve got some serious interest and we’re close on a few orders. Like everything we do it will be totally custom with a lot of options. The power options for the boat is impressive as we can use three smaller diesel engines, a couple of larger diesels, a pair of turbines or even quad Seven Marine outboard engines.

“We’re also going to start building a 60 with a center console design,” Glaser continued. “It’s going to be unlike anything on the market. There will be an open deck with seating up front and a huge cabin in the console with two full staterooms. We’ll be able to set it up a couple of ways aft of the console in either an open format for the sportfish folks or an enclosed design for those who want more of a yacht or cruiser feel.”

Once Midnight Express gets a couple of the 60-footers finished, Glaser believes there’s going to be a serious demand for the new models.
