Miles Completes First Paint Job for Mystic

Said Stephen Miles of his first Mystic paint project: “It was definitley cool to do something elegant.”

Earlier this week ace graphics man Stephen Miles of Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., completed his first design and paint job for Mystic Powerboats of DeLand, Fla. Miles’ blank canvas was a 2017 Mystic M4200 luxury center console. From start to finish, the custom paint project took slightly less than three weeks. (Mystic also offers “standard” graphic packages that will take less time for Miles to complete.)

“It was definitely a challenge, especially when it came to the boat’s top,” Miles said. “It was pretty cool to do something elegant and a change from all the crazy, intricate paint jobs I do for Outerlimits.

“The main thing I wanted to do was make the boat seem longer than it is,” he added. “I definitely think we accomplished that.”

Currently in progress for Miles is paintwork for a Mystic C4400 catamaran. “Another M4200 is on the way, and another one is coming after that,” he said. “Like the first one, the next two are custom jobs.”

“When John Cosker and I got together to introduce the center console two years ago we knew the product would evolve to be the best,” said Scott Sjogren, Mystic’s sales representative. “Painting was one area we looked for continual improvement. We made the decision to go with Stephen based on the other work he had done. We couldn’t be happier with the work he has done for us, the way he runs his business and the way he handles himself.”

The first Stephen Miles-painted Mystic M4200 luxury center console will be on display at the 2016 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (Nov. 3-7).
