Mystic C4400 and M3900 Update: Production In ‘High Gear’

With three C4400 catamarans, another trio of M3900 luxury performance center consoles—both new models—and one C5000 catamaran in the works, Mystic Powerboats‘ production is in “high gear” according to Scott Sjogren of Pier 57 Marine. The owner of the global Mystic dealership in Gurnee, Ill., Sjogren is on site at the DeLand, Fla., custom high-performance company for testing of the builder’s first 4400, which is currently in the final stages of rigging for its twin Mercury Racing 700SCi engines. (Also at Mystic this week, Mercury Racing’s Mike Griffiths is working closely with company principal John Cosker to ensure the installation goes smoothly.)

The hull and deck of the third 4400 catamaran from Mystic Powerboats were joined today at the company’s facility in DeLand, Fla.

“If everything goes to plan, we should test the first 4400 cat tomorrow,” Sjogren said. “Everyone here is cranking—lamination, rigging, paint and so on, everyone is working at full speed.”

Already sold according to Sjogren, the second and third 4400 cats—one is in paint and the other is in the process of having its hull and deck joined—will be powered by twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines. At present, the twin 1,100-hp turbocharged engine setup is the largest power package Cosker plans to offer for the 44-footer.

Of the three M3900 center consoles in production, two will be outfitted with quad 300-hp Mercury Verado outboard engines, a package that will be standard for the new model. Sjogren declined to provide the power package for the other 39-footer, which will be unveiled next to the first 4400 cat at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show.

“We really only have five weeks of production time left between now and the show, so it’s going to be tight,” Sjogren said. “But we are absolutely going to make it to Miami.”
