The much-anticipated debut of Mystic’s line of high-performance yachts at the Cannes International Boat Show earlier this month didn’t materialize thanks to delays in materials for the display booth. That forced John Cosker, the owner and founder of the Deland, Fla., company that made its name building high-performance catamarans and V-bottoms, to withdraw from the show at the last minute.

“We’d even hired a woman to staff the booth and I was going to head over after the (Lake of the Ozarks) Shootout, but we just didn’t have everything we needed,” said Cosker.  “You don’t want to go over there and not be ready.

“Fortunately or unfortunately, the day-to-day running of Mystic hasn’t always given me as much time as I need to focus on the yachts, and the project has come along more slowly than I would have liked,” he added.

Cosker said he intends to continue developing the Mystic performance yacht line and hopes to introduce it in 2012.

“It’s taken longer than I had anticipated, but I am still committed to it,” he said.
