Mystic Center Console Update: ‘All-Inclusive’ Pricing Targeted

With a planned debut for its M3900 Center Console set for the 2015 Miami International Boat Show in February, Mystic Powerboats of DeLand, Fla., has finalized pricing for the new model but is not yet ready to release the final figures. That’s the word from Scott Sjogren of Pier 57 Marine, the custom high-performance catamaran and V-bottom builder’s exclusive dealer in Gurnee, Ill.

Though it hasn’t been released, pricing has been set for Mystic’s new 39-footer, which is slated to debut at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show.

“We know what the price will be but we’re not ready to release it yet,” said Sjogren. “We want to make it easy for the consumer so we’re not going to offer a lot of options. Bluetooth compatibility, LED lighting in the cockpit, underwater lights, touchscreen electronics, ship-to-shore radio—all of those features will be standard. Options will be limited to things such as radar, teak flooring and power.” (The base-priced 39-footer will be outfitted with triple 300-hp Mercury Marine Verado outboard engines.)

Pressed for more pricing detail, Sjogren declined to provide specifics. “I can tell you want it will be somewhere between the Nor-Tech 390 and the 42 MTI center consoles,” he said.

Sjogren said that he and Mystic principal John Cosker believe they know which custom performance-companies will provide competition for the new Mystic, and that Mystic will be competing with builders other than those from the go-fast boat realm. “Let’s just say that Intrepid is a really good company,” he said.) But Sjogren also explained he and Cosker are more focused on capturing customers than competing with specific brands. He also revealed that plans for Mystic’s next V-bottom—a larger center console—have been finalized.

“Our next model will be significantly bigger—another luxury performance center console is where we see the market going,” said Sjogren. “And in less than three years, we think we will see our first 100-mph center console.”
