Mystic Hosts Inaugural Key West Lunch Run

John Cosker, the owner and founder of Mystic Powerboats, perfectly described the evolution of his DeLand, Fla.-based company in a short welcome speech during today’s first Mystic Powerboats Key West lunch run.

“It’s fitting that we’re having our first event of this kind in Key West, where Mystic has an offshore racing history and legacy,” said Cosker to a group of 30-plus Mystic luxury center console owners and their guests. “It wasn’t all that long ago that 50-foot Mystic offshore racing cats were lining the sea wall on race days. Now, we’re here with our center consoles. Thanks to all of you—our great customers—our company has evolved into something completely different, though racing always will be part of our heritage.”

In addition to the half-dozen Mystic M4200 luxury center consoles that were part of the relatively short, 15- to 20-minute run in sloppy, mostly open ocean water from the docks behind the Galleon Hotel in Key West Harbor to the Key West Marina Yacht Club for lunch, the first M3800 center console took part in today’s happening.

Scott Sjogren and Greg Weber, who organized the event, of Mystic Powerboat Sales also were on hand to host—and to thank their loyal clients.

More than 30 people participated in today’s Mystic event.

“We are now on Mystic M4200 No. 32,” said Sjogren, who partnered with Cosker to introduce the 42-footer at the Miami International Boat Show in 2015. “We’ve made a lot of improvements—we think each 42 center console has gotten a little better than the last. Now we’re working on a new, all-carbon-fiber hardtop that will cut about 200 pounds out of the boat.

“It hasn’t been easy,” he added. “The people at Mystic work hard every day to deliver the best possible product. But we couldn’t have done it without you. We have the greatest customers in the world.”
