Mystic M3900 Center Console Update: Interior Detail Progress

Between testing its C4400 catamaran for the first time and continuing work on its M3900 luxury performance center console, last week was a busy one for Mystic Powerboats. The 39-footer completed its first sea trial in early October (read the story), but unlike the 44-foot cat, the V-bottom hit the water for the first time without a deck.

Since then, finishing the M3900’s deck and hardtop has become the top priority on the project for the DeLand, Fla., builder. Both the center console and the catamaran need to be ready in time for their 2015 Miami International Boat Show debuts—and the following Miami Boat Show Poker Run—in mid-February.

“The center console is coming along great,” said Scott Sjogren of Pier 57 Marine, the global dealer for Mystic, in Gurnee, Ill. “Late last week, they started working on the deck’s finish details. We’re pleased with where the boat has come from and where it’s going.”

“The transom door most likely will be frosted glass in a stainless-steel frame,” he continued. “The nonskid on the sole is very soft and easy on the feet. The hardtop design is beautiful—it allows for recessed speakers and great lighting, and none of the metal tubing to look through that you find in most traditional center consoles. The helm station is coming out great—the ‘side wing’ doors that will block the wind from the cockpit are going to be beautiful.”

Sjogren said the 39-footer boasts a deep cockpit with excellent freeboard. “It will allow for a very safe and very dry ride,” he said. “I am six feet tall, and when I stand in the boat, the freeboard is at my waist. And all the seating heights are dead on for comfort.”
