Mystic M4200 Center Console Hits Pacific Ocean for First Time

None of the first nine Mystic Powerboats M4200 luxury center consoles built and delivered since the model debuted—in prototype form—during the 2015 Miami International Boat Show have touched waters west of the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri. That changed last week with the delivery of hull No. 10 to owner Rob Sebring of Huntington Beach, Calif. Martin Sanborn, an appointed sales representative for the DeLand, Fla.-based center console and catamaran company, handled the delivery to Sebring, who Sanborn—and Scott Sjogren of global Mystic dealer Shogren Performance Marine–knew from a previous sale of a 48-foot Fountain Powerboats cruiser.

Sanborn took Sebring and a friend on the 42-footer, which is powered by four Mercury Marine Verado 350 outboard engines and will be kept at Huntington Harbor, for its first sea trial. After cruising around the harbors in Long Beach and San Pedro, the trio “took a right turn” and headed to Avalon Harbor, roughly 30 miles away on Catalina Island.

“It was four- to six-footers all the way out, and we ran 60 to 68 mph without a glitch—and without the outboard engines barking,” Sanborn said. “It was my first chance to run the M4200 in a substantial Pacific Ocean swell and the boat ate it up.”

A unique offering for the West Coast, the M4200 attracted plenty of attention, according to Sanborn.

“There’s nothing like this boat out there,” he said. “We had people literally following us to the docks to see it. And the owner loves it.”
