Mystic Returning to Miami Boat Show
For the first time since 2010, Mystic Powerboats of DeLand, Fla., will be exhibiting at the Miami International Boat Show, which runs Feb. 13-17. The company will display a 50-foot open cockpit pleasure catamaran recently purchased by a new owner through Pier 57 Marine in Gurnee, Ill. The open-cockpit cat is powered by twin Mercury Racing 1350 engines and was previously (and separately) owned by well-known performance-boat enthusiasts Tom Borisch and Ron Szolack. Also on display will be a new canopied 50-foot offshore racing cat with a pair of 1,800-hp mills from Stotler Racing Engines. Owner Chris Cox will campaign the 50-footer on the Super Boat International offshore racing circuit this season.
“I haven’t exhibited at the Miami Show in three years,” said John Cosker, the owner and founder of Mystic, whose display will be outside the Miami Convention Center. “We’re going more to the poker run market, and we’re starting to promote the new 40 (read the story). We’re finishing the plugs on that boat right now and we’ll be working on the molds next week. But we’re going to have all-new renderings of it in Miami. We’re trying to fill to more build spots for the 40 this year.

In addition to the first two orders for the 40-footer from existing Mystic clients Borisch and Szolack, Cosker recently received an order for a new 50-foot cat from a new client who lives in California but plans to keep the boat the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.
“The new 50 is going to have all the new features of the 40, including the cockpit liner, which we’ll widen, and an all-new dash,” said Cosker. “We also just got in molds to build five little catamarans for a Texas Border Patrol project, and we’re finishing the deck mold for the 42-foot Powerplay. I think we’ve booked more business this month than we did all last year.”
