New Billet Jack Plates from Paragon Performance & Machine

Specializing in CNC machining, welding, fabrication, prototyping and product development, Paragon Performance & Machine in Fort Myers, Fla., is now offering billet aluminum jack plates for outboard engines. Combining race-proven experience with professional design and machining abilities, Paragon Performance & Machine built and installed a set of prototype jack plates for the Superboat Stock-class Doug Wright catamaran owned by Chris Schoenbohm, which will be racing in next week’s Super Boat International Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla., under the Patriot Vapor moniker (read the story).

The new billet jacket plates from Paragon Performance & Machine have been tested on a 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran.

The team has already raced and tested the American-made jack plates, which come standard in setbacks of 5.5 and 8 inches, but any setback from 3 to 14 inches can be special ordered. Available for new builds and retrofits in custom color choices, the jack plates are rated up to 550 pounds and come with a jackscrew under each side of the clamp bracket that allows you to level the outboard.

With a mission to engineer and manufacture paramount parts, efficiently, for exceptional clients, Paragon Performance & Machine is made up of partners Shaun Torrente (yes, the well-known boat racer from South Florida) and Billy Wright, a master machinist responsible for machining and production.

Torrente, who handles Paragon’s CAD work and business procurement, said the company mainly provides services to people or companies that have an idea for a product but need help with the design, manufacturing or both.

“We can take someone’s idea from a napkin to a real part in a short amount of time on a realistic budget,” Torrente said. “In addition to that, we are developing our own parts like these brackets. We also have billet seal upgrades for Mercury gearcases, billet prop shaft bearing carriers and more.”

Paragon’s new American-made billet jack plates come in custom color choices for new builds and retrofits.

Torrente added that Paragon is currently testing a Mercury Verado version of its jack plate that is expected to be ready in January. He also said the cool thing about Paragon’s design is that if customers ever want to change the setback, all they have to do is buy new side plates as the transom plate and motor plate are universal.

Torrente said the jack plates start at $1,299 and that Schoenbohm’s company, Smart Marine Service, is handling United States distribution, while he’s handles international sales.
