New Model Owner Spotlight In Miami: Vincent Diorio

Second only to taking your new custom performance boat on the Miami Boat Show Poker Run with your family and friends, having it showcased during the Miami International Boat Show, which ends Monday, is a huge thrill for any owner. That definitely has been the case for Vincent Diorio, the owner of the SL 41 commanding attention among a new SC 46 catamaran, a new SV 50 V-bottom and the in-process Spirit of Qatar 39-foot offshore racing catamaran that will be run by Ali-Al Neama and Bill Moore this season in the Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats exhibit.

The new SL 41 SL in the Outerlimits exhibit is Diorio’s third model from the Bristol, R.I., company.

Diorio, who has owned two 39-foot V-bottoms from Outerlimits is particularly pumped about the deck of his new 41-footer—the SL 41 was built with a lower deck that most SL models.

“As you can see, I’m not very tall,” he said, then laughed. “I have great a view out of this boat. I can see everything.”

Diorio said he ordered the stand-up cockpit SL 41 over an SV sit-down version because it “will work better” for the local boating he does. Diorio lives in Richfield, Wis., and does most of his boating on Lake Winnebago.

“The dock heights would make it really hard to use a sit down boat,” he said. “We’re not going to use the cabin for overnighting, but my wife (Kimberly) and 2-1/2-year-old daughter (Francesca) could go down there to get out of the weather.”

Twin Mercury Racing 700 SCi engines with No. 6 drives power Diorio’s new V-bottom. Asked why he opted for the beefier drives, as opposed to a standard NXT drive setup, Diorio said he plans to add Whipple Supercharger upgrades kits to the engines at some point after they’re out of warranty.
