The top-end results are back from today’s sea trial of the new Nor-Tech 340 center console, which is based off the Cape Coral, Fla.,  go-fast boat builder’s successful 39-footer. While Terry Sobo, the company’s director of sales and marketing, had hoped the boat with twin 300-hp Mercury Verado outboard engines would reach 70 mph, he said he was more than satisfied with its best run of 68.5 mph.

“With the Mercury props, it’s a solid 65-mph boat,” said Sobo. “When we ran it with the Herings (four-blade 23-inch pitch), we picked up a few miles per hour.

“We’re really happy with it,” he added. “With the average 34-foot center console that has a 10-foot-4-inch beam and this power, you’re lucky to see 60 mph.”
