Nor-Tech Roars Past Performance Center Console Delivery No. 300

During a recent trip to the Nor-Tech Hi Performance Boats facility in Fort Myers, Fla., Peter Roberts of Ontario, Canada-based Double-R Performance ordered three more Nor-Tech performance center consoles in addition to those he currently has slated for production. That led Roberts, who owns the full-service new and pre-owned powerboat dealership with his brother Raymond, to consider how many performance center consoles have actually been delivered since 2010, the year Nor-Tech introduced the 390 Sport.

Among Nor-Tech’s 300-plus performance center console deliveries are five breathtaking 450 Sport models.

“In what I call Nor-Tech’s ‘modern era’ since 2010, they have delivered 11 of their 290 center consoles, 120 of their 340 center consoles, 156 of their 390 center consoles, 25 of their 392 Super Fish models and five of their 450 Sport center consoles,” said Roberts. “But Nor-Tech also built 25 of their 42-foot Enforcement center consoles in the early 2000s for Qatar. As a point of reference, I just took production slots No. 191 and No. 193 for 390 model center consoles, which will be delivered spring of 2018.”

“As of Aug. 8, we just booked our 200th 390 center console to Legend Marine Group of Carrollton, Texas, not far outside of Dallas,” said Geoff Tomlinson, Nor-Tech’s dealer manager. “We are working with our dealers to improve production by starting at the very basic level, which is the order itself. Our dealer network has been very responsive to several changes lately as they all understand the necessity for accurate build sheets.”

Tomlinson emphasized that Nor-Tech is taking several steps to meet the current demand of performance center consoles.

“It’s all about building the right team,” said Henrik Margard, Nor-Tech’s production manager. “We are focusing on a team that can implement our forecasting, policies and procedures. It’s an exciting time for Nor-Tech with the launch of our first 560 Super Sport this week, and efficiency is key for the build process.”

The Nor-Tech brand was well represented at last weekend’s Florida Powerboat Club Emerald Coast Poker Run.

“Production of the 340 and 390 center consoles is flowing very well and Nor-Tech is hitting their delivery dates,” said Roberts, who also has two 450 Sport center consoles ordered with the first of two headed into production in the very near future. “After January of next year I expect to have at least three more confirmed orders for 390s.”

Added Tomlinson, “With everything that is going on here it’s hard to imagine that we still have time to come up with new models and continuous improvements on existing ones. But that’s exactly what Nor-Tech is best known for, so keep a sharp eye out for more head-turners such as the 360 American Flyer featured on speedonthewater.com last week.”
