Nor-Tech Showcases New Cape Coral Facility To Open Dealer Meeting

In something of a return to its Cape Coral, Fla., roots, Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Powerboats opened its third annual dealer meeting last night with a welcome party at its expanded facility in the Southwest Florida city. The new 50,000-square-foot expansion, which is attached to Nor-Tech’s original home, received its finishing touches just two weeks ago and is now the company’s designated rigging space.

“All the boats will be laminated and painted at our facility in North Fort Myers,” said Geoff Tomlinson, the company’s director of sales and marketing. “When they’re finished there, they’ll come here for rigging and interior installation.”

Nor-Tech’s expanded upholstery shop is located in the original structure just one wall away from the new rigging area, where interiors also will be installed. From there the finished boats be picked up and/or delivered.

“There won’t be any going back and forth between the facilities,” said Tomlinson. “They’ll be completely painted and finished when they get to the rigging shop.”

More than 50 guests including domestic and international Nor-Tech dealers and vendors such as JL Audio and Mercury Racing were on hand for last night’s welcome party. In addition to hosting the event, which was attended by Cape Coral mayor Joe Caviello, with company co-founder Nils Johnsen and the entire management team, Nor-Tech’s Trond Schou presented a check for more than $6,400 to Ronald McDonald House charities.

Nor-Tech is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Originally founded to produce high-performance V-bottoms and catamarans, the company has become one of the country’s leading builders of performance-oriented center consoles, with models from 34 to 56 feet.

The expanded upholstery shop feeds finished interior pieces to the adjacent rigging facility.
