Nor-Tech’s 420 MC Well-Received in Norway

After a journey halfway around the world, the new European-inspired 420 MC from Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats is at home in Norway. The first model from the company, which is located in Fort Myers, Fla., made its debut in Key West, Fla., during the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run, was transported to the Dusseldorf Boat Show in Germany and made its most recent appearance at a new in-water boat show in Oslo, Norway, at the end of April.

Now in the hands of its Norwergian owner, the stylish 42-footer with a pair of 370-hp Yanmar diesel engines made quite a splash from its prime location at the boat show just outside of Oslo in Tjuvholmen.

“The boat show was supposed to last from Thursday to Sunday, but sadly the rain kept the people away the first two days,” said Sebastian Skallist of Speeboats.noNor-Tech’s exclusive Norwegian dealer located in Sandefjord, Norway. “On Saturday and Sunday we got plenty of people and they all seemed to love the new idea from (Nor-Tech owners) Nils (Johnson) and Trond (Schou). The feedback we received was very positive and we already have a few guys interested in a 420 MC for the 2013 season. The owner got to see his boat at the show and loved it.

With that boat and the fast-approaching 280 Sport (28-foot center console), we hope to sell a few of those before the summer starts.”

As of latel, Terry Sobo, Nor-Tech’s director of sales and marketing, said the center consoles have been the best-selling models in the company’s lineup that includes high-performance V-bottoms and catamarans as well as an 80-foot sport yacht.

“The 420 MC has been a pretty hot model for us,” Sobo said. “A lot of our new models have been actually. The 390 Sport is on fire and so is the 34-footer. We’ve been building performance boats, too, it’s just that these new models have taken over. And the funny thing is we’re getting interest from people who have never heard of Nor-Tech before.”

Sobo said the company should have its 280 Sport finished soon. Fulfilling current orders has taken priority so the 28-foot center console has taken a little longer to finish then anticipated.
