Online Qatar Cup Coverage: Wrap-Up Shows Will Go Live On YouTube
Beginning after Pole Position qualifying for the Cat Light and Supercat classes this afternoon, the Qatar Cup will air a wrap-up of the day’s events on its YouTube channel. (The air time will be announced once the 10- to 15-minute video has been produced and uploaded to the Qatar Cup’s channel.)

Each simple and informative segment will include a summary of the day’s action as well as interviews with offshore racers. Each will include video and still footage of the action on the water. Marc Granet of Miss GEICO Offshore Racing, Steve Curtis of the Spirit of Qatar team and I will team up with the Qatar Marine Sports Federation’s six-camera production crew to produce each show.
Expected to take two hours for both classes, Pole Position qualifying is a staple of Union Motonautique Class 1 competition. Each team will be allowed a run-lap and then timed through the 4.2-mile course. Teams that believe they can improve their lap time will be given a third lap if they choose.
Cat Light Pole Position qualifying runs from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today. Supercat Pole Position qualifying run from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The course opens for testing at 10 a.m., but the course will be cleared before Pole Position qualifying begins.
