Outerlimits 47 GTX Remote Access Project Nears Completion

In about a week, Louisiana performance boater Nate Michel should be cruising around Lake Pontchartrain and the surrounding waterways in his flawlessly refreshed 2003 Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats 47 GTX. And just a couple of weeks after that he and his wife, Robin, will get to show off the boat—and it’s recently completed stunning paint job from Grafik Worx in Miami—to their friends in the performance boating community at the wildly popular Tickfaw 200 Poker Run hosted by Blood River Marina.

Nate Michel’s 2003 Outerlimits 47 GTX Remote Access is back in Louisiana after being painted by Grafik Worx in Miami.

Behind Stephen Emmons and the talented crew at Total Marine Performance in Ponchatoula, La., the 47-footer is receiving the finishing touches in terms of rigging and hardware improvements. According to Emmons, all of the deck rails and other hardware were replaced so that everything is flush, including the new composite hatches painted to match the rest of the boat, which is named Remote Access and powered by twin 1,100-hp engines.

“We’ve reinstalled the drives, serviced the engines and have everything else pretty much wrapped up,” said Emmons, who is opening a new on-water restaurant/bar on April 18 called Sun Buns—the establishment located in Manchac is hosting a party with Powerboat Nation during the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run. “The main thing we have left to do is install the interior, which is complete, we just have a couple of things to take care of before we can start fitting the interior and upholstery.”

Emmons said the boat’s new all-black interior, which he called a very clean and unique combination of Alcantara and leather, is going to turn a lot of heads between its unveiling at the Sun Buns opening and the Tickfaw 200 and other poker runs this summer.

Michel, who has his freshly painted black Ford F-650 adorned with Outerlimits and Remote Access insignias ready for towing duty, said his experience with Grafik Worx was second to none.

“The paint job on my boat is phenomenal,” Michel said. “It may not be as extravagant as some of them out there but for what it is, there isn’t a dry spot, peel or blemish anywhere—it’s perfect. I am definitely impressed. Plus the guys at Grafik Worx were some of the most honest and stand-up people I’ve every worked with in the boat business. I’m so excited to be able to use the boat again soon.”
