Outerlimits Completing 29-footer, Adding 38-foot Center Console

Final deck tooling for the Outerlimits SV29 takes shape.

Bristol, R.I.-based custom high-performance powerboat builder Outerlimits is nearing completion on the deck tooling for its new 29-footer. Dubbed the SV29, the new model will debut at the 2012 Miami International Boat Show, according to company principal Mike Fiore. Final tooling for the hull is already finished.

“I am standing next to the deck tooling right now,” said Fiore in a telephone interview earlier today. “We’re finishing fabrication of it at the moment. We’ve been making some modifications to it and it’s coming along nicely. It’s amazing how things change from the sheet of paper and 3-D modeling when you actually start to build them.”

The first SV29 will be powered by a Mercury Racing 525EFI engine.

“It runs 90 mph with that power package,” said Fiore. “I don’t see why you’d need much more than that.”

Paint is complete for the new Outerlimits 38-foot center console, which is based off the company’s original 37-footer.

Long-rumored to be “in the works” at Outerlimits, the company’s first center-console model should be finished in the next month, Fiore said. Based off the original Outerlmits 37’ Stilletto, the 38-foot-long center console will have a hard T-top and will be powered by triple 300-hp Mercury Verado outboard engines.

“It’s going to be really, really nice,” said Fiore. “We went around quite a bit on what size our first center console should be, and we finally settled on a 38-footer, which is the next generation of our original 37-foot hull. We just finished painting it.

“We’re swamped right now with the 38 and 29, and getting new boats and Joe Sgro’s SV43 ready for Key West,” he added.
