Outerlimits Delivers New SL 44 To Repeat Customer On Long Island

The last few weeks of summer are about to get a whole lot better for Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats customer Joe Amoroso, as the Bristol, R.I. company’s Dan Kleitz delivered a new SL 44 sportboat on a custom MYCO trailer today to Amoroso’s home in Long Beach, Long Island, N.Y. Painted by Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., the stand-up cockpit 44-footer is powered by Mercury Racing 1100 engines with No. 6 drives.

In a brief test session yesterday, the SL 44 reached 136 mph.

“We didn’t spend a lot of time out there and we were running against the tide, but we were happy with that number right out of the box,” Kleitz said. “It’s a really nice package.

Amoroso previously owned an Outerlimits 39’ Quattro called Bada Bing, which he had built in 2005. Also dubbed Bada Bing, his new model is equipped with three Garmin GPS units at the helm of its Alcantara-upholstered cockpit, which boasts a Bluave stereo system from Waves And Wheels in Osage Beach, Mo.

“This is ‘Bada Bing’ the third, actually,” Amoroso said, then laughed. “We were thinking of a different name for the new boat, but everybody was like, ‘Why change it?’ I’ve had it since 2000.”

Amoroso and Kleitz ran the 44-footer for about an hour today before bringing it back to the owner’s home, where it now sits on a lift re-cradled to fit the SL 44 hull. The owner plans to run the boat locally between now and mid September to early October. Then he’ll send it back to Outerlimits for whatever tweaks and fine-tuning need to be done before he takes the new Bada Bing on the Florida Powerboat Club’s annual Key West Poker Run from his winter home in Sunny Isles, Fla.

“They did some job on it, inside and out,” he said. “They exceeded my expectations.”
