‘Outlaws To The Max’ Bash And More Coming To 2019 Texas Outlaw Challenge

For the past 11 years, organizer Paul Robinson and his team have worked hard to improve the Texas Outlaw Challenge based in the Houston-adjacent cities of Clear Lake, Kemah and Seabrook. Set for June 19-23, this year’s event will be no exception.

“That’s the fun of it, trying make it all better every year,” said Robinson.

All of the beloved staples of the event including Friday morning’s top-speed shootout on Clear Lake, the substantial boat-and-car display on the Kemah Boardwalk and the two-day poker run featuring a Friday stop at the massive waterfront home of well-known performance boat community member and general Texas bon vivant Kenny Armstrong will be in place. But the 12th annual event is adding something completely new this year.

A Saturday evening dinner celebration, awards ceremony and casino night—all under one roof thanks to MarineMax of Houston, which is located in Seabrook. And it’s appropriately dubbed, “Outlaws To The Max.”

In years past, participants were given dinner vouchers for various Kemah Boardwalk restaurants on Saturday night, and the group tended to get split up. This year, all of Saturday night’s activities are going to be housed under the MarineMax roof. What’s more, the facility has opened up 25 “V.I.P. slips,” according to Robinson, for interested Texas Outlaw Challenge participants. Each slip will include complimentary bottle service for the evening, which will translate to 25 individual parties that compliment the full-scale celebration within the MarineMax facility.

“Those slips are quickly being reserved,” Robinson said.

Prizes for the casino night will include items donated by A.O. Coolers, BBLADES Propeller Services, CMI and Livorsi Marine. To raise money for the Shriners Children’s Hospital of Galveston, the event will offer Kendra Scott jewelry “mystery boxes” available for purchase at $50 per box. According to Robinson, the first “production 2,000-hp marine engine” will be on display at the event.

Supported in her successful bid to become the current Miss Houston 2019 by the Texas Outlaw Challenge, Blaine Ochoa also will be at the Saturday evening celebration. Live entertainment will include a show by “Cirque du Soleil-style aerial scarf-dancers,” according to Robinson.

“We’ll have cigar-rolling, live entertainment, roulette wheels, black jack, craps tables—everything,” he said.

According to Robinson, Kenny Armstrong has a few surprises in store for the card stop and party at his waterfront home,

Robinson said he is expecting 2,000 to 3,000 guests to attend Saturday night’s celebration.

“We’ve never all been able to be together on Saturday night before and that made for a lack of camaraderie that night,” Robinson said. “Now, we will be.”
