Packed House Expected for Lake Ozarks’ Super Cat Fest

Two weeks from today, Alvin Heathman and the rest of the Super Cat Fest crew will be in full swing preparing for Friday (Aug. 22) evening’s Props and Hoses party at Camden on the Lake in Lake Ozark, Mo. According to Heathman, the annual catamaran showcase—held in conjuction with the 26th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout—has a waiting list for both dock space and hotel rooms at the first-rate resort and marina.

Heathman said Friday’s party is a fundraiser for the Lake Ozark and Osage Beach fire departments and features a silent auction and a dunking booth with many notable names in the powerboat community expected to step into the tank, including yours truly. The event carries over into Saturday with a special Super Cat Boat Show that will follow the Shootout festivities and include awards for best in show as well as a cocktail party, live entertainment and a special fireworks display.

In addition to providing a boat lift for participants to change props, etc., Heathman said the event is bringing in a helicopter landing pad so folks like John Woodruff, who owns the recognizable 48-foot Marine Technology Inc. catamaran Windship (and anyone else who wants to bring their helicopter), has somewhere to park their aircraft.
