Patriotic Poly Lift 34-Foot Nor-Tech Headed to GLOC Shootout

With their relatively new 340 Sport center console from Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats in tow, Mark and Tiffany Maasen are currently making their way from Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks to Oklahoma’s Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees to participate in the GLOC Performance Boat Challenge Shootout.

The Maasens, who are co-owners of Poly Lift Boat Lifts with Mark’s brother, Mike, and strong supporters and volunteers for local events such as the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Support Our Troops Poker Run, are excited to be returning to the event for the third year in a row in their star-studded Nor-Tech powered by a trio of Mercury Marine Verado 300 engines. Featuring a reportedly first-of-its-kind metallic wrap from 3M installed by the talented crew at Pro DeZigns, the boat definitely gets attention no matter where it is.

Mark, who has run his red Cigarette Racing Team 39 Top Gun in the first two years of the Shootout, is eager to run the center console he picked up at the end of October. Not because he’s expecting to set any records on the event’s new 3/4-mile course, but because he’s going to throttle the boat while Tiffany drives it.

“Tiffany is going drive the boat for the first time in a Shootout so it should be fun to see what she thinks,” Mark said. “Each year the organizers of this event have done a better job and we’re expecting the same thing this year. We have a pretty big group coming from Lake of the Ozarks and I know there are boats expected to be there from all over the country. It should be a fun few days.”

Mark, who is taking the boat to the third annual Beaver Lake Performance and Powerboat Association Big Boat Bash Fun Run and Street Party in Arkansas the following weekend and the fifth annual Old Hickory Fun Run in Tennessee the weekend after that, said the reason he decided to sell his Cigarette was because the boat was nearly 10 years old and it didn’t have the room to take their entire family out on the lake. Between the two of them, they have six grown kids (plus significant others) and the Nor-Tech gives them a boat where they can take everyone for a ride.

“I can’t wait to run in the shootout,” Tiffany said. “I’ve been driving the boat, practicing around the docks and getting more comfortable in it. The Nor-Tech handles really nice and is super easy to drive. I never drove the Cigarette, it was a little intimidating. This boat isn’t at all.”

Tiffany, whose new insurance company is promoted nicely on the outside outboard engine cowlings, pointed out that the goal of the new boat theme was to pay tribute to the U.S Armed Forces.

“My son is in the Air Force so we put that logo to the engine cowlings, and it’s also on our shirts with the other branches of the military,” said Tiffany, who added that the boat is named ’MERICA because it’s a statement her son always says. “We decided to wrap the boat this way to pay respect for everyone who has served and fought for this country. Mark and I are very patriotic and we get to meet so many veterans and current military members at different event that we thought the design would be a nice way to say thank you.”
