Performance Boat Center Preparing for Shootout Festivities

For the last few weeks, the crew at Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., has been busy preparing for the upcoming 27th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, which is set to take over the massive Central Missouri reservoir starting next week.

“When you ask me about my plans for the Shootout, my plans are to survive it,” said Performance Boat Center’s Brett Manire. “For us the Shootout began two weeks ago as we started shuffling boats around to make room boats that have already arrived from various parts of the country. On top of our normal customers who we’re making sure are ready to be on the water or run in the Shootout, we’re taking care of many out-of-town guests some of which have giant rigs with tilt trailers and such. It’s going to take some work but we’ll figure out where to put everything.”

Although he doesn’t know exactly which boats Performance Boat Center will be displaying at Wednesday night’s new Shootout on the Strip presented by Waves and Wheels, Manire is excited about the revitalized gathering on the Bagnell Dam Strip.

“I wish we could put a little more emphasis on the street party because I think it’s going to be pretty cool, but our party is the next night so we need to make sure anything we take to the strip is cleaned up and back in the showroom for Thursday night,” Manire said. “Our party this year is going to be even bigger. The Shootout auction is going to be here on Thursday night, too. We’ll have bands playing at both Performance Boat Center and at the new Redhead Lakeside Grill. Thankfully our restaurant and pool is open now so that should handle some of the load.

“It’s kind of an open house—the showroom will be open and the service department will be open,” he continued. “I’m not sure how we’re going to pull it off but it should be a sweet event.”

And for anyone who doesn’t get to the parties at Performance Boat Center or the Bagnell Dam Strip, Manire said he’s reserved a dozen slips at Captain Ron’s for Saturday and Sunday. From Cigarettes and Sunsations to Statements and Skaters, severalå new and used boats will be on display and available for demo rides. Manire added that Performance Boat Center will be participating in Thursday’s Wishing On A Ride charity event before the party as well as the poker run the next day
