Performance Boat Center Racing Team Going MTI In 2019

In a definitive move to “race what they sell,” Performance Boat Center offshore racing team owners Brett Manire and Mark Waddington have decided to campaign a new 42-foot MTI catamaran with their existing cockpit duo of throttleman John Tomlinson and driver Myrick Coil in 2019. Currently in Clearwater, Fla., for tomorrow’s Super Boat International National Championships, the back-to-back defending Superboat-class world championship team, which is based out the full-service powerboat dealership in Osage Beach, Mo., will retire and sell its Skater Powerboats 388 catamaran at the end of the season.

Performance Boat Center took on the MTI line of catamarans and high-performance center consoles earlier this year.

“The opportunity to work with Randy Scism and his crew at MTI has been fantastic and created great opportunities for us,” Manire said. “We are all about supporting and marketing the brands we sell, so we have ordered a new 42-foot MTI raceboat for 2019. We will de-rig our current boat, pull the engines and drives and put it up for sale after the (SBI) Key West world championships. It’s a great boat and a four-seater so we shouldn’t have much trouble selling it.”

Manire said the team will stick with Sterling Performance Engines power.

“We are going to do some things with the new MTI that have never been done before,” he said. “But we’ll start revealing them after this season is finished.”
