Performance Boat Center Spring Fun Run Attracts National Participation

Brett Manire, the co-owner of Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., expected 15 to 20 boats to participate in yesterday’s Spring Fun Run hosted by the multi-brand full-service dealership. But with many waterways and waterfront businesses around the country still either partially or completely shut down in response to the novel coronavirus crisis, boat owners from around the country showed up for the one-day happening.

“It was spectacular,” Manire said. “We had people in from Louisiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and—of course—Missouri. What a great turnout and good time.”

Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats was among the many custom go-fast boat brands represented at yesterday’s Performance Boat Center Spring Fun Run on the Lake of the Ozarks.

To keep the boats and participants separated, there was no official starting time for the run—captains and their passengers simply left when they wanted to after the morning drivers’ meeting in the Performance Boat Center showroom. For lunch, most of the group headed to The Fish and Company before moving on to Dog Days Bar And Grill. (A smaller group, said Manire, later headed to Coconuts Caribbean Bar and Grill.) At the end of the day, they headed back to Performance Boat Center and its neighboring Redhead Lakeside Grill.

Performance Boat Center delivered a new Wright Performance 360 catamaran during the event, and the dealership’s Rusty Williams ran the boat with its owner. According to Manire, the event even generated a few sales for the company.

“At the restaurants, they had all the tables and bar stools really spread out,” Manire said. “Everyone was told to eat with their groups and stay six feet apart from other people in other groups. Then they headed back to the grill for dinner, live music and drinks. I heard the party went into the wee hours of the morning.

“There were five or six private jets at the airport that got participants here,” he continued. “A lot of people left their boats here so they can come back on weekends to enjoy the Lake of the Ozarks, because their home waterways are still closed—and this is just a great place to go boating.”
