In addition to sales, Performance Boat Center will handle painting and rigging on the 35-foot Doug Wright pleasure catamarans.

With its new agreement as the exclusive dealer of Doug Wright Designs pleasure catamarans, Performance Boat Center of Osage Beach, Mo., has expanded its already large portfolio of new high-performance powerboat brands. According to the full-service new and pre-owned boat dealership’s Brett Manire—currently enjoying a 78-degree day giving demo rides in a 32-foot Sunsation CCX center console on the Lake of the Ozarks—Performance Boat Center has ordered six 35 Doug Wright 35 RT pleasure catamarans.

The first boat, which like all of the open-cockpit 35-footers will be equipped with Mercury Racing 400R outboard engines, will be completed in June. Performance Boat Center will handle the paintwork—the company has its own state-of-the art paint booth—and rigging for the catamarans.

“We expect it to run in the 110-mph range on that power,” said Manire. “The 32 Doug Wright cat runs so flat and smooth. We’re expecting the 35 to run the same way, except that it’s a bigger boat that will be a little better for rough water.

“We’re excited about everything Doug Wright Designs is doing, especially with its CAD design program and five-axis machine,” he added. “We’re thrilled to be their exclusive dealer for pleasure boats.”

With twin Verado 400R outboards, a well-equipped 35-foot Doug Wright pleasure cat should retail in the $450,000 range, Manire said. Orders for offshore-racing-specific Doug Wright Designs 32-footers will still go directly through the builder.
