Performance Boat Club Of Canada Kicks Off Season With Record-Setter

With a combination of 33 catamarans, V-bottom sportboats and performance center consoles on the roster, last weekend’s Performance Boat Club of Canada season-opener on the Muskoka Lakes attracted the largest fleet in the history of the event. In addition to support from longtime sponsors All Ontario Recycling and Birchpoint Marina, the poker run—dubbed the Muskoka Lakes Parade of Power—was backed by new presenting sponsor Hull Life Insurance.

Proceeds from the event went to Ontario-based Camp Oochiegas For Children With Cancer.

“Muskoka is a beautiful place to boat, and our run gets bigger every year,” said Meghan Brousseau, the president of the nonprofit club, which raises money for local charities in the Ontario. “Even more exciting is that we doubled the amount of money we raised for our charity, Camp Oochigeas last year. Our incredibly generous members raised $40,000 for the camp. We are so excited to be able to help send a few more kids to this awesome camp.”

The best poker hand went to Chris Grant, who runs a 42-foot Fountain. Kevin Primmer, who owns a 42 Statement, took second place and 40-foot Nor-Tech catamaran owner Ken Jensen claimed third place.

The 33-boat fleet was a record turnout for the Muskoka Lakes event.

Set for July 6-8, the club’s next event is on Georgian Bay and will run the Inside Passage from Midland to Parry Sound.
