Pier 57 Reports Record 30-Day Sales Period

Between sales of Mystic Powerboats‘ soon-to-be-released new models—the C4400 catamaran and M3900 luxury performance center console—and several brands of pre-owned high-performance powerboats, Pier 57 Marine has experienced its strongest sales period from December 15 through January 15 in its history. In addition to four C4400 cats, nine M3900 center consoles and one C5000 50-foot Mystic cat, the Gurnee, Ill., high-performance powerboat dealership and service center has sold 15 boats during the 30-day period, according to Scott Sjogren, the company’s owner.

Among the pre-owned models sold by Pier 57 in the past 30 days is this 50-foot Mystic Powerboats catamaran.

“In the last week, we sold a 388 Skater, a 44 MTI and a 50 Mystic,” Sjogren said. “I feel more confident than ever now that people are ready to spend money, because we’ve been selling ‘big-ticket’ boats in the $300,000 to $600,000 range. We also had a couple of Fountain deliveries to the Lake of the Ozarks last weekend. That’s the other thing I’m pleased to see—the orders are coming from everywhere. We’ve sold boats to buyers who run on Lake Havasu in Arizona and Lake Ponchartrain in Louisiana.”

Sjogren added that several buyers who’ve committed to Mystic’s M3900 model have recently upgraded their orders from the “base” boat,” which comes standard with triple 300-hp Mercury Verado outboard engines. He credits those upgrades to the specifications of the model.

“A few clients, the ones who have visited the Mystic factory, have changed their orders to quad (300-hp) outboards and added air conditioning systems and generators,” said Sjogren. “The big reason is those people have seen how big our helm station console is compared to those of our competitors—the Mystic is the biggest 39-foot center console out there. The console holds a queen-size bed, and I think the buyers who have upgraded are saying, ‘Hey, this would make a great Bahamas boat.'”

Sjogren said that pricing of the 39-footer will be released to the public during its Miami International Boat Show next month. “We are not the lowest-priced 39 on the market, and we’re not the highest-priced center console on the market,” he said.
