Many POPRA teams, including those in the popular “P” classes featuring catamarans and V-bottoms with inboard and outboard power, will descend on the manmade lake to race in the inaugural Lake Perris Grand Prix.

According to a press release from POPRA, racers will navigate the 5ΒΌ-mile course around Alessandro Island to the dam and back around the lake. The teams will be looking to start their 2014 APBA National High Point Championship chase with a strong showing in Perris before heading to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., at the end April.

Not only will POPRA be part of theΒ Desert Storm Poker RunΒ festivities in Lake Havasu, but the group also has two more races planned for 2014β€”one in Long Beach in either June or July and another at San Diego Bayfair in mid-September.

Along with the Lake Perris Grand Prix, there will be two personal watercraft (PWC) endurance races with some of the top riders in the country participating in the two-hour events on PWC from Kawasaki, Sea-Doo and Yamaha. Organizers say the event is going to provide fun for the whole family with plenty of viewing opportunities from the beach.
