Powerboat P1 YouTube Channel Boasts 2019 APBA Series Recaps

With offshore racers and fans itching for the already delayed 2020 season to begin, Powerboat P1 has stepped with recaps of three races—and more—from the inaugural 2019 American Power Boat Association Offshore Championship Series. And though they are no substitute for real-time racing action, the trio of 42- to 45-minute videos on the Powerboat P1 YouTube channel, are well-worth watching.

“Though we can’t get you on the water or to the beach just now to enjoy your favorite sport, we’re delivering some great races via our YouTube channel for you to enjoy on your sofa,” said Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1.

First up on the list is the season-opener in Cocoa Beach, Fla. With its 59-boat, venue-record fleet, the event set the tone for the best offshore racing season since the early 2000s. Among the highlights of the Thunder On Cocoa Beach event was the wicked Supercat-class battle between Pro Floors Racing and M-Con, which saw the Pro Floors of team owner/driver Wayne Valder and Grant Bruggemann prevail. Offshore contests don’t get any better.

Next in line is the video recap of the 36th annual Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix. For local racers and fans in Southwest Florida, this one will tug at the heartstrings a bit as yesterday that was contest was postponed. (A replacement date has yet to be announced.) Like the Cocoa Beach race, the 2019 Sarasota contest attracted a massive fleet, including the largest Super Stock-class contingent in years.

Last and far from least, the video recap of Roar Offshore in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., chronicles the APBA Series finale in a proper return to a once-great venue. From the sixth undefeated contest for the Class 4 Simmons Marine team to a breakthrough victory for Loren Peter and Mike Wright in the Super Stock-class WIA Marine Insurance catamaran, the Fort Myers Beach closed out the series in compelling fashion.
