Pure Platinum Leads Trifecta of Stunning Skater Catamarans

While only two of the three Douglas Marine/Skater Powerboats catamarans sitting in the Douglas, Mich., company’s booth at the Miami International Boat Show were visible to show attendees during Thursday’s opening day, that wasn’t the case on Friday as the crew pulled the cover off of the highly anticipated Pure Platinum 388 Skater.

Pure Platinum, a new 388 Skater Powerboats catamaran, made its debut today at the Miami International Boat Show.

Featuring a brilliant paint job from The Art of Design, a stylish wraparound windshield from Aero-Marine and an interior handled by Jamie Borg of Cutting Edge Interiors with custom touches beyond any boat Skater has built, Pyburn’s boat was being photographed constantly throughout the day.

Of course the company’s other two models on display—a 30 SS with twin Mercury Racing OptiMax 300XS engines and a 50-foot race edition with twin Mercury Racing 1350 engines (see photos in the slideshow below)—were stunning as well.

“I’m excited the boat’s here—it took a lot of work to get it here,” said Pyburn, who drove the boat from Michigan to Florida earlier this week with Jason Ventura of Brand X Hi-Performance Marine. “I’ll be more excited when I get to drive it though. The whole ‘show thing’ isn’t really for me. It’s more for Peter (Hledin), Todd (Goodwin) and all of the other talented people involved in this project.”
