Race World Offshore Confirms Commitment To Dunkirk Race

In an email newsletter sent this afternoon, Key West, Fla.-based Race World Offshore reaffirmed its commitment to a July 10-12 event on Lake Erie in Dunkirk, N.Y., in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the release, Race World Offshore officials recently applied for the required permits and had a conference call with Wilfred Rosas, the Mayor of Dunkirk.

“Everyone took the position that the public and the fans’ safety along with their well being was the most important topic at hand,” the release stated. “Both the city and RWO are working together in hopes that national travel bans and shelter-in-place restrictions are removed way before the July event. Everyone is excited in hopes that the third annual event will take place. We want everyone to stay safe and continue to social distance and watch your local government’s restrictions.”

The Dunkirk event is one of three events on the RWO schedule. After Dunkirk, the outfit will produce a race in Clearwater, Fla., Sept. 25-27, followed by its three-race contest in Key West, Fla., Nov. 8-15. Earlier this year, the Supercat owners group confirmed its commitment to RWO’s Clearwater and Key West events.
