Race World Offshore Television Show To Air In Early May

Action from the 2018 Race World Offshore season, which consisted of events in Mentor, Ohio, and Dunkirk, N.Y., will air in a one-hour program on May 12—Mother’s Day—on CBS Sports. According to Larry Bleil, the founder of the Key West, Fla.-based organization, the program will begin at 8 a.m. EST.

The program will be rebroadcast “multiple times on later dates,” Bleil said, but that schedule has not been determined.

“I have not seen the completed show yet,” he said. “But with the air time the boats were getting (on Lake Erie) in Mentor, it should be amazing.”

Race World Offshore currently has one race—a return to the Dunkirk venue—officially on its 2019 event schedule. (Though still listed on its website, the second-year Mentor event was cancelled several months ago.) The organization also recently earned the highest score in the Request For Proposal process among three bidders for the five-year contract to produce the annual November races in Key West, Fla. During a meeting in early May, the Key West City Planning Commission is expected to make its final decision and award the contract.
