Registration Dates Set For West Michigan Offshore Events

With the anticipation for the 2019 season building, West Michigan Offshore announced that the registration dates for the club’s three premier events this year are going to open on March 30, April 30 and May 30, making it easy to remember. Of course the organization plans to continue to remind its members of upcoming registration details—March 30 for the Muskegon Powerboat Weekend (June 14-16), April 30 for Rock The Coast (July 19-21) and May 30 for Gold Coast Summer Blast (August 23-25).

“We have put extra effort into making our three on-the-water events special for all,” said Roger Zuidema, WMO’s new president. “Our lighthouses are calling, and we hope you can make it to all or some of our events. Become a member of West Michigan Offshore—for just $100—and registration is free for all three events. Slip information will be sent by email along with information on all the fun. ”

Zuidema is excited about all of the events, mainly because they each have their own personality and allure. He said with three historical ships in the harbor, the Muskegon Powerboat Weekend’s uniqueness is unprecedented.

“Not often can you receive a poker run card chip off a World War 2 submarine and enter a landing ship (LST 393) that beached at Normandy for the poker run captains meeting,” he said.

The city of Grand Haven is set to host the Rock The Coast weekend, and this year the event is going to feature a Keith Holmes Memorial Run on Friday, July 19. The Coast Guard City has special attractions including the famous Musical Fountain, and the run to Holland brings views of Big Red, the city’s can’t-miss lighthouse.

South Haven, which hosts the National Blueberry Festival during the second weekend of August, is welcoming WMO members to the Gold Coast Summer Blast. Eclectic eateries, award-winning wineries, quaint boutiques and the natural scenic surroundings make South Haven a special place.
