River Dave’s Place Adding Beer Garden for Desert Storm Street Party
With more than a mile of high-performance powerboats, engine and hardware exhibits and custom tow vehicles on display on McCulloch Boulevard, the Desert Storm Poker Run’s annual Street Party has become one of the highpoints of the event. It’s a “mix and mingle” affair in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., which overlooks the lake itself and sets the tone for the happenings of the weekend. At present, more than 100 boats have registered for the 2015 Desert Storm event, which runs April 21-26.

Thanks to RiverDavesPlace.com, a popular online community and content site started by Dave Johnson, adults strolling this year’s Street Party, which runs from noon till 9 p.m., on Thursday, April 23, will be able to buy a cold beer after 6 p.m.—without leaving the street. Johnson worked closely with the event’s organizers to create the first RiverDavesPlace.com Beer Garden as part of his website’s display on McCulloch Boulevard. Johnson has even hired a popular local band called “Littletown” to provide entertainment.
“The RiverDavesPlace.com Beer Garden is completely open to the public and will be selling beers,” he said. “I’m not getting any of the money from those sales, but I did have to give up the majority of what is probably the most desirable booth space in the street fair. I am paying for the band—it is just part of what we are doing for Desert Storm.
“Our festivities will be kicking off around 6 p.m. at the street fair,” he added. “I hope everyone comes by the booth and the beer garden to enjoy the show.”
