Roar Offshore Fun Run Filling Fast, Adding Sponsors

Less than a month away, the inaugural Roar Offshore Fun Run based out of Cape Coral, Fla., is already at half of its 40-boat capacity. Registration began on August 28.

Lead organizer Tim Hill of Fort Myers Beach originally planned to open the October 9-10 event to 60-plus boats, but with the challenges faced by all group-events this year he opted to scale down to make it more manageable, he said.

“If we can grow next year, great,” said Hill, who recently completed a 600-mile boating trip across the state, down to the Florida Keys and back up the Gulf of Mexico to Southwest Florida with his wife, Cyndee. “Whatever proceeds we make will go the Fort Myers Beach Lions Club.”

The event will run out of the Westin Cape Coral hotel and the adjacent Tarpon Point Marina. Friday night’s $75 per guest VIP party at the resort will include an open bar, food and live entertainment. Saturday evening’ card turn-in—the event does include a poker-run element—session also will feature an open bar.

In addition Hi-Def Printing, the Westin Cape Coral Resort and Creative Web Builders, Mercury Racing of Wisconsin and Delaware-based WMF Watercraft and Marine have joined title sponsor Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats in backing the event.  WHF is even building a new Avalon pontoon boat powered by twin Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines to run in the event.

Title sponsor Nor-Tech will campaign its spectacular new convertible-hardtop 460 Flyer in the run.

Cost per boat, including the captain and one passengers, is $450 and includes Saturday night’s dinner. (Additional passengers are $125 per person.) Would-be participants can register by clicking here.
