Royal Purple to Sponsor Miss Geico

High-performance synthetic lubricant manufacturer Royal Purple has signed up to sponsor the Miss Geico Racing team in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The team fields a 50-foot, turbine-powered Mystic catamaran driven by Marc Granet and throttled by Scott Begovich.

The sponsorship agreement developed out of an “open sponsorship call” (Read the story) that Royal Purple made in late August. The story was reported on speedonthewater.com and linked to a thread on offshoreonly.com, where Granet read it and informed the team about it. Shortly thereafter, the Miss Geico Racing team made a presentation to executives from Royal Purple, and the two parties reached an agreement.

“I can’t give you all the details of sponsorship deal right now, but it’s big,” said Granet. “Royal Purple is completely committed to offshore powerboat racing in 2012 and 2013.”
