The 10th annual Smokin’ The Sound Super Boat Grand Prix in Biloxi will kick off the season (April 25-28) and the 10th annual Thunder on the Gulf Orange Beach Grand Prix (May 3-June 2) returns to the beautiful Alabama coastline as the third race following the Space Coast Grand Prix (May 17-19) in Cocoa Beach, Fla. “We are looking forward to this year’s race on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and we’re looking forward to working with John Carbonell (SBI president and founder),” said Woody Bailey, Smokin’ The Sound’s chairman and executive director. “We have a lot of great fans in the Gulf Coast area and they can expect some exciting racing this year.”

The Gulf Coast Powerboat Association, including founder Gary Nichols and president Damon Collins, also is ready for SBI to return to Alabama for Thunder on the Gulf, which was cancelled last year after being a stop for the Offshore Powerboat Association and Offshore Super Series in past years.

“We are happy with the way this year’s schedule is shaping up and we are looking forward to be work with both organizers,” Carbonell said. “Woody has been great and they seem very excited about the race at the end of April. They have such a great fan base and everyone enjoys the Gulf Coast area. I know Gary and Damon are working very hard as well. It should be a very exciting year.”
