Scott Sjogren: Four Questions

Coming off the biggest year in the 11-year history of his company, Scott Sjogren of Pier 57 Marine is optimistic about business in 2014. Despite the increasing challenge of finding “clean, pre-owned late-model” high-performance powerboats to sell, Sjogren, who moves a high-volume of pre-owned inventory as well as new models from Cigarette Racing Team and Marine Technology, Inc., at his Gurnee, Ill., dealership and consignment and service center, says his company is already on track to have another strong year.

Yet as optimistic as he is, Sjogren has a no-nonsense, pragmatic take on the go-fast powerboat world. He pulls no punches about its strengths and weaknesses, which makes him a good person to talk to when you’re looking for a current industry overview. I caught up with Sjogren yesterday and asked him four straight questions. Here’s what he had to say.
