Installation of twin Mercury Racing 700SCi engines in the second 36’ Sunsation to be equipped with the popular power package should begin next week, according to Wayne Schaldenbrand, the president of the Algonac, Mich., semi-custom boat company. The 36-footer recently returned to Sunsation after being painted at Mitcher T Custom Painting and Design.

A 36’ Sunsation with the same power package reportedly topped 114 mph during the Desert Storm event in April 2011.

“The engines should be at our door on Monday,” said Schaldenbrand.

While Schaldenbrand described business in general as “a little slow, which isn’t unusual for this time of year, ” he said that two 28-footers are in production and that the company could soon be starting a new F-4, the builder’s 43-foot signature offering.

“We just gave a demo ride in one of those, and we think we’re going to get an order for it,” he said.
