Seebold, Smith and More to Join Shootout Hall of Fame

The committee behind the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Hall of Fame announced the list of inductees for the second annual Bob Morgan Memorial Shootout Hall of Fame today. The seven members into the 2014 class include one of the most notable names in boat racing history, Bill Seebold, who helped organize the original Shootout, as well as another original organizer in the water patrol department, Bill Swineburg.

Bill Seebold (left), who helped organize the first Shootout, will join the late Brad Smith, a longtime participant, in the 2014 Hall of Fame class.

Ed Hancock, a fire department chief in charge of water operations for many years, will be joining the Hall, as will Leo Case (the original voice of the shootout), Scott Poest (the registration programmer aka the brains behind the Shootout) and registration volunteer Diana Dorhauer, who has assisted in the event for 24 years and is married to last year’s inaugural class inductee, Fire Chief Jeff Dorhauer.

In a special memorial, the Hall of Fame ceremony will include Brad Smith, a regular racer, participant and word-of-mouth promoter of the Shootout. Smith died in a poker run accident in Kentucky last September and deserves a special place in the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Hall of Fame.

“We’d like to congratulate these new members and welcome them to this prestigious group,” said Duggan, who owns Captain Ron’s, the host location for the upcoming 26th annual event (Aug. 16-24). “We’re trying to recognize the people who got this whole thing started. Each one of them has a special place in making the Shootout what it is today. And of course Brad was such a part of the lake community here. He was a Shootout participant for many years. We wanted to honor him in this way.”

Duggan invites everyone to come honor the inductees at the 2014 Hall of Fame Dinner on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Stables at Cannon Smoked Saloon. Tickets are $25 and can be purchase at Captain Ron’s, Cannon Smoked Saloon or by calling 573-374-8400. The event will sell out.
