Sequence Of The Week: Shootout Roostertail Hosedown

Here’s what you see in this photo sequence: Kentucky performance boater David Southern getting started on a top-speed run in Pure Platinum, his Skater Powerboats 388 catamaran powerd by twin turbocharged engines from Chief Performance, during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri yesterday on the way to a 165-mph mark on the three-quarter-mile course.

Here’s what you don’t see: Speedonthewater.com national sales manager Ryan Johnson, who captured this sequence from the start boat alongside the welcoming crew from WIA Marine Insurance, getting soaked by Southern’s roostertail.

That’s OK. Johnson, who spent most of his day baking on the start boat, appreciated the drenching. He needed to cool down.

As for Southern, who provided Johnson’s dousing, he’s done throwing water for the weekend after posting his impressive top speed.
