Shogren Performance Marine Opens ‘Club 48’ Customer Lounge

With the opening of “Club 48” at Shogren Performance Marine‘s McHenry, Ill., Scott Sjogren reached a major professional and personal milestone this week. First and foremost, the owner of Shogren Performance Marine, MYSTIC Powerboats global dealer finally has a place he can call his own. For most of his 13 years as a high-performance powerboat dealer, Sjogren had leased space, but in late 2015 he purchased the McHenry property and started a build-out that—for all intents and purposes—recently finished.

Scott Sjogren: “We’re going to use the lounge for events including local boat club rallies.”

Equipped with a fully stocked bar, a pair of 50-inch flat-screen televisions that function as mirrors until they’re powered up and several lounges, Club 48 takes its name from two sources: the Hendricks Motorsports’ No. 48 NASCAR team and Sjogren’s age when he purchased the property. Thanks to Hendricks team members Chad Knaus and Michael Landis—both longtime friends and clients of Sjogren—the customer lounge is also well-stocked with Team 48 NASCAR memorabilia and collectibles.

“We’re going to use the lounge for events including local boat club rallies,” said Sjogren. “It’s really fun—it’s about 350 square feet and right off the showroom. Of course, the bar is fully stocked, and you can’t even recognize the TVs as TVs until you turn them on. This is the first building I’ve owned since I started in the marine business, and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. The second building is up and a third is coming early summer 2016. These two additional buildings will be used for storage and consignment.”

“The lounge will be a great place for our customers to hang out when they’re here,” he added. “It will also help us with our new future ventures, which we are very excited about”
