Less than two weeks away on July 12, Shore Dreams For Kids, the annual Seaside Heights, N.J.-based event that provides a day of powerboat rides, carnival fun and food for physically and mentally challenged children and adults, is looking for volunteers in several capacities, including boat owners willing to provide rides to participants and their families for the day. The nonprofit organization also needs volunteers to help staff the docks and the food service and carnival areas nearby the Seaside Heights Municipal Dock.

“We need boat volunteers,” said Dave Patnaude, who is serving his last year as the executive director of the event, in a recent email. “What other help do we need? Got a hot car, motorcycle or boat on trailer? Bring it down. The visitors of Shore Dreams will love it.”

Time slots open for Saturday’s boat rides at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Boat owners interested in providing rides for the day can contact Patnaude directly via email at njppc@aol.com. Additional information, as well as a video on the event, is available on the Shore Dreams For Kids website.
